L’?le aux ?pices (or spice island) afbric is a wool satin on which the technique of digital printing has been used to apply rich and joyful colour ranges, carefully balanced to produce a harmony of shades. On its pre-bleached wool base, the colours breathe out even more deeply. The vivid colour palette of this wool satin creates echoes of the island of Zanzibar, of the African coast, also nicknamed the island of a thousand spices: it was renowned for the huge amount of trading it did.
