Beautifully refined, «Aux Folies Bergeres» is a Mohair velvet with a uniform and glossy pile free from any impurities, as this is the characteristic ofAngora goat hair. With the fabric high Martindale rub test score, it is ideal for intensive use. Originally, Angora goats were bred in Turkey for centuries. These days, we find stock bred in Texas and now in South Africa, which provide half of the worlds production (5,5 million kg). Originating from a humid climate, the mohair goat has developed a compact, elastic and waterproof coat. The Folies Bergeres Theatre, close to the Grands Boulevards metro station, is a famous entertainment venue in Paris inaugurated on May, 2nd 1869 and still in business. In the 1920s, the venue triumphed under the management of Paul Derval: his reviews offered an abundance of costumes, scenery, stage effects and a troupe of scantily clad English dancers, replete with feathers and glitter, which became the theatre’s hallmark.
